A Classical Twist on Boston Brownstone Style
For her contribution to the Boston Junior League Designer Showhouse, Kacey Graham crafted a richly layered sitting room that balances the opulence of classical references with a distinctly modern eye. This space was designed to honor the brownstone's storied past while introducing a lighter, fresher mood—one that feels both timeless and unexpected.
A monumental gilt mirror anchors the room, echoing the classical busts and architectural prints that give the space its art-historical gravitas. But there’s nothing dusty about the result: clean-lined furniture, crisp white textiles, and bold hits of orange bring the energy forward. Sculptural elements—including a gleaming lamp of carved florals and a plaster bust atop lacquered orange boxes—strike a balance between whimsy and reverence.
From the softly curved Louis chairs to the refined gray palette, every element is curated to feel collected rather than staged. The result is a room that stops you in your tracks—but then invites you to stay.
